In recent years, the firm has cultivated a substantial practice in the representation of vendors, lenders and building owners in the development, installation, maintenance and financing of energy conservation measures. By upgrading existing environmental control equipment, such as standard HVAC equipment, building owners can often pay for the cost of the upgrade with the saving generated by the more efficient equipment. Many HVAC vendors will guarantee that the savings from the upgrade will offset the cost of upgrade.

The financing for these transactions in many instances can be structured as a true lease of equipment such that it may be accounted for as an expense and not a liability, thus improving the balance sheet of the building owner and the vendor. The firm has worked on numerous projects of this kind all over the country, including projects involving municipalities, school districts, public universities, federal government agencies and privately owned skyscrapers.
